FAMILY
At NAU school, parents are seen as the first and main educators, so, as has always happened at TRAQUINAUTA, their involvement in the school is promoted, and this involvement is considered extremely important. We know that a good collaboration between the school and the family not only ensures the quality of care provided, but also promotes consistency between the work done at home and the work done at school. And it is precisely this continuity that makes it possible to consolidate the strategies that facilitate healthy development in the long term.
At NAU we believe that each adult has a valuable and unique perspective on children and that these perspectives, combined, can help parents and professionals in discussing and solving problems related to the emotional, physical and intellectual health of children and families, and it is in this spirit that we have held annual "The Traquinauta workshops" and that we now call "NAU workshops".
By participating in the workshops, both parents and teachers are actively involved as they listen, speak, use relevant materials to understand and explore ideas, strategies, and work together to solve problems related to specific issues.
In these workshops, parents will see, in concrete terms, how the information being shared can influence their interactions with their children, and by better understanding parents, teachers will also gain important information about children's needs and interests.
Therefore, rather than imparting lecture-style information, these workshops employ a variety of strategies to encourage active parental participation.
Like the work we do with children, we understand that we should support the construction of parents' knowledge and that they benefit from considering and relating new ideas to what they already know – that is, from building their own knowledge in a meaningful way.
