EVENTS
Global Ocean Day
Every year we celebrate Global Ocean Day with an exploration of the fauna and flora of Avencas beach, appreciating the species, their characteristics, the tides, the sea, the smell and above all letting ourselves be enchanted.
It is necessary to love the sea in order to take care of it. Children and families shall recognize its importance in environmental sustainability and in improving the quality of life for all.
Carcavelos Beach Cleaning
In partnership with Eco-schools, Erasmus+ and World Ocean Day, the TRAQUINAUTA team, families and children cleaned the sand of Carcavelos beach where we gathered 137 people and collected 12.6 kg of waste.
This activity started by TRAQUINAUTA and will continue at the NAU school as it aims to raise awareness among our families to reduce waste production, create more recycling habits and account and understand the type of waste that is left on the beach.
Pellets watch
In collaboration with Pellets watch Portugal and within the scope of the Eco-schools, Blue School and Erasmus+ projects, we will collect plastic pellets on the sand of Carcavelos beach.
Pellets are small granules of plastic and are the basic units of many plastic objects that we use in everyday life. During the transport process these plastics are lost in the environment, transported to waterways, and invariably transported to the oceans.
The collection will be reported to the Pellets Watch Portugal team, which in turn will report worldwide. The aim of this process is to chemically analyze plastics in order to detect producers.
Erasmus+ project with schools in Finland and Hungary
This is a project that seeks to introduce in early childhood education, practices, and strategies to develop awareness of the need to protect our environment and the fight against climate change, which had the European approval of ERASMUS+.
This project brings together activities in 3 countries with different European locations, Southern, Northern and Central Europe, namely in the Atlantic Ocean in Portugal, in the Baltic Sea in Finland and in the Tisza River in Hungary.
In this project, three different schools, from 3 distant countries in Europe, will align themselves in sharing the different pedagogical approaches and consolidating practices that help raise awareness and change behaviors for a more sustainable planet.
